1916 Easter Rising Centenary Commemoration Events and Resulting Traffic Restrictions

O’Connell Street will remain closed until 23.00 on Monday 28th March.

SUNDAY:
Leeson Street Lower, Fitzwilliam Place, Fitzwilliam Street Upper, Fitzwilliam Square East/North/South & West, Pembroke Street Upper, Hatch Street Upper & Lower, Earlsfort Terrace, Merrion Square East & South, St Stephen’s Green North/South/East & West, Cuffe Street, Kevin Street Upper & Lower, Clanbrassil Street Lower, Patrick Street, High Street, Cornmarket, Nicholas Street, Christchurch Place, Lord Edward Street, Cork Hill, Dame Street, College Green, Westmoreland Street, O’Connell Bridge, O’Connell Street Upper & Lower, Parnell Street, Marlborough Street, Cavendish Row, Parnell Square East, Frederick Street North, Dorset Street Upper, Bolton Street, King Street North, Capel Street, Mary’s Lane, Little Britain Street, Anglesea Row and Little Mary Street from 03.00 to 20.00.

Temporary road closures will be in place on Easter Sunday along the parade route and also on streets in the vicinity of the start and finish areas. The Parade will start on St. Stephen’s Green South and travel via Cuffe Street, Kevin Street Lower and Upper, Patrick Street, Nicholas Street, Christchurch Place, Lord Edward Street, Dame Street, Westmoreland Street, O’Connell St, Parnell Square, Dorset Street etc. to finish on King Street North.

MONDAY:
On Easter Monday, wreath-laying ceremonies will take place on Moore Street, St Stephen’s Green West, Grand Canal Quay, Castle Street and Bishop Street, involving temporary road closures.
Moore Street & Moore Lane from 07.00 to 19.00; St Stephen’s Green West from 10.00 to 16.00; Grand Canal Quay from 11.45 to 14.30; Castle Street from 12.00 to 13.45; Bishop Street from 12.00 to 13.45.

TUESDAY:
A ceremony at Liberty Hall will involve temporary road closure of Beresford Place.
Beresford Place (from Eden Quay to Abbey Street Lower) closed from 09.00 to 14.00.

Traffic Management Plan:
Major road diversions will be in place over the Easter Long Weekend due to temporary road closures in the City Centre, especially on Easter Sunday. Diversions will also be in place on Easter Monday at wreath laying ceremony locations, and diversions again on Tuesday 29th March, due to temporary closure of Beresford Place for Liberty Hall Ceremony.
Traffic on Arran Quay travelling north and east will be diverted via Church St, Constitution Hill, North Circular Rd, Portland Row and Amiens St.
Traffic on North Wall Quay travelling south will be diverted via City Quay Lombard St, Westland Row, Merrion Sq North and Mount Street Lower.
Local access will be maintained except on Easter Sunday for O’Connell St when restrictions will apply.

MONDAY:
The temporary closure on O’Connell Street is a continuation of the closure period commencing at 0.00 hrs on Good Friday 25th March.
St. Stephen’s Green South, West & North (Dawson Street to Grafton Street), and Earlsfort Terrace (Hatch Street to Leeson Street) from 03.00 to 21.00.
Merrion Square South & East, Fitzwilliam Street Lower and Mount Street Upper from 03.00 to 23.00.
Smithfield, Smithfield Terrace, New Street North, New Church Street, Friary Avenue/Grove, Bow Street, Nicholas Avenue, May Lane and Haymarket from 08.00 to 20.00.
Mary’s Lane, Beresford Street, George’s Hill, Halston Street, Green Street Little, Anglesea Row, Greek Street, St. Michan’s Street and Arran Street East from 06.00 to 22.00.

Traffic Management Plan:
Southbound Buses and taxis on Parnell Square East & Cavendish Row wishing to travel on D’Olier Street will be diverted via Parnell Street, Cumberland Street, Marlborough Street, Rosie Hackett Bridge and Burgh Quay.
Northbound traffic on O’Connell Bridge wishing to access Parnell Street will be diverted via Eden Quay, Beresford Place and Gardiner Street Lower.
Traffic on Leeson Street wishing to travel on St. Stephens South to Cuffe Street / Aungier Street will be diverted via Adelaide Road, Camden Street and Wexford Street.
Traffic on Merrion Square North & Holles Street wishing to travel on Merrion Square East & Fitzwilliam Street Lower to Fitzwilliam Street Upper will be diverted via Mount Street Lower, Warrington Place, Herbert Place and Baggot Street Lower.
Local access will be maintained.
