Traffic restrictions for today's Olympic homecoming ceremony on Dawson St

Dublin City Council will host a homecoming event and celebration for the Irish Olympic Team in Dawson Street on Wednesday the 15th of August 2012. The event will run from 13.00 to 14.00hrs; however the following traffic restrictions will be implemented by An Garda Síochána to facilitate the construction of the event stage, media facilities and safety equipment:- 　

ROAD CLOSURES
The following roads will be closed to traffic from 06.00 to 16.00hrs on Wednesday 15th August 2012

Cuffe Street (eastbound traffic I.e. heading towards Dawson Street)

St Stephens Green South (eastbound traffic i.e. heading towards Dawson Street )

St Stephens Green East (all traffic except southbound Contra-Flow bus lane)

St Stephens Green North (all traffic)

Dawson Street (all traffic)

Molesworth Street (all traffic between Dawson & South Fredrick Street)

Special provision has been made for Dublin Bus to access Dawson Street until 10.00hrs, however no other traffic can be facilitated.


PARKING RESTRICTIONS
No parking will be permitted on the following streets from 06.00hrs to 16.00hrs on Wednesday:-

Dawson Street

Molesworth Street

St Stephens Green North (north side of Green between Kildare and Dawson Street)

South Fredrick Street (between Molesworth Street & Setanta Place)

South Anne Street 　

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
Alternative routes for traffic that would normally travel on Dawson Street:

Traffic intending to travel north via St Stephens Green East and Dawson Street from Leeson Street Bridge should divert at Leeson Street Bridge onto Fitzwilliam Street, Merrion Square East & North, Westland Row, Pearse Street, Tara Street, North or South Quays and then back onto normal route.

Traffic intending to travel north via St Stephens Green East and Dawson Street from Cuffe Street and St Stephens Green South should divert via Patrick Street, Nicholas Street, Christchurch, Winetavern Street, North or South Quays and then back onto normal route. 　

ACCESS TO CAR PARKS
While access to all public car parks will be maintained, the Dawson Street and St. Stephen’s Green access routes will not be available, therefore: -

Dawson & Setanta Car Parks can be accessed via Kildare Street / School House Lane / Molesworth Place / South Fredrick Street (No access from Dawson Street) 

Stephen’s Green and RCSI Car Parks can be accessed via York Street or Stephen Street and Mercer Street ONLY

Royal Irish Automobile Club Car Park (Unfortunately there will be no access between 06.00 and 16.00hrs as it is within the main event area)

Private Car Parks on Dawson Street (Unfortunately there will be no access between 06.00 and 16.00hrs as the only access will be blocked by the Event Stage) 　

GRAFTON STREET
Commercial Vehicles will be able to use Grafton Street during authorised hours (access from Wicklow Street) as normal but must exit the area via Glover’s Alley or Chatham Street (no exit via Dawson Street). Drivers of large vehicles are requested to familiarise themselves with their alternative route in advance as some roads will not be suitable for long vehicles.

TAXI RANKS
There will be no vehicle access to the Taxi Ranks on St. Stephen's Green North (two ranks between Grafton and Dawson Street), Dawson Street and Molesworth Street.

The nearest ranks in operation are Grafton Street, College Green, Foster Place, Westmoreland Street, St. Stephen's Green North (Shelbourne Hotel), Merrion Street and Earlsfort Terrace.
