Drink Awareness

An Garda Siochana in co-operation with drinkaware.ie wish to remind people to take responsibility for their drinking over the weekend, especially considering that this year it is a three day festival.

drinkaware.ie will be distributing ‘Morning After’ cards on site at Oxegen 2009 with the support of An Garda Siochana. This pocket size card explains how long it takes your body to eliminate alcohol, vital information for anyone driving home from the festival or the morning after drinking.

Fionnuala Sheehan, Chief Executive of drinkaware.ie encourages music fans to plan how they are going to get to and from Oxegen in advance. She explained that ‘Your body gets rid of roughly one standard drink per hour; that’s one hour for half a pint, or a small glass of wine or a single shot to be eliminated from your body. To avoid being at risk the morning after, use the drinkaware.ie website to look up the various public transport options that will get you to and from Oxegen quickly and safely or designate a non-drinking driver. The drinkaware.ie special Oxegen Survival Guide – with insider tips – gives practical hints and tips that will help ensure a safe and enjoyable Oxegen festival experience’
