Friday's Live Drive Link-Up

Our most controversial Link-Up top date!!

We platyed Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill and for the 5th day in a row Mack was able to link it to We All Stand Together by Paul McCartney AKA The Frog song.

But in an incredible turn of events Yolande swooped in and stole the 103.2 Dublin City FM hat right from his grasp and linked Running Up That Hill to The Frog Song. The decision as always is down to the researcher and Pam chose Yolande over MACK

Here's how Yolanda did it:

Kate bush sang with Peter Gabriel who was in genesis which is a book from the bible which also mentioned plagues of frogs. Please play frog song. Yolande :)

Best of the rest of the texts:

Frog songs first:

Link up Guess what colour most bushes are? Yeah your right they are green. Can pam name a muppet that is green. What's that john he's a frog. So frog song. MACK

Running up the hill is a green thing to do, kermit is green, therefore to support mack, the frog song, mark happy Friday

Going downhill fast by the divine comedy is sort of the opposite title. The divine comedy also had a song called the frog princess. So... I'm with mac, lets go with the frog song. Tony.

Or, Kate bush sang duet with Peter Gabriel, he was in genesis as was Phil Collins, his song was played by a gorilla in the dairy milk advert, so you could play on melancholy hill by gorillaz, mark

Running that hill was recently played on live-drive, which featured a warning about loose horses, so play crazy horses by the osmonds

Kate bush to George bush ... So play American idiot by greenday.. Frm disco stu

kate bush had a hit with peter gabriel who was a member of genesis. Phil collins was also in genesis. Phil was in an episode of miami vice as was glenn frey who was in the eagles with don henley. Play boys of summer.

Kate Bush to Bush the band, who's lead singer is married to Gwen Stefani who has collaborated with Linda Perry so play 4 Non Blondes

Kate Bush did a duet with Peter Gabriel who collaborated with Laurie Anderson on one of her albums. Ms. Anderson is married to Lou Reed who played with Gorillaz this year at Glastonbury. Damon Albarn was in Blur who had Keith Allen in their House in the Country video. Keith Allen has appeared on stage with Dundalk punk/folk singer Jinx Lennon. You never play Jinx Sarah, go on, be a rebel :-). Damncar

Running up that hill 2 keep on running by steve windwood 2 the steve miller band who sang jet airliner so play are you gonna gonna be my girl by jet. TEJ

Kate bush is to black bush whiskey is to thin lizzy is to whiskey in the jar :-)

Kate bush hounds of love was covered by the future heads. Just play that sleepy kev

Runnin up that hill leads nicely to run to the hills, or running free, or the loneliness of the long distance runner by iron maiden. Pam you know it makes sense, it being maiden friday and all that. Cosmo seinfeld

Julie Andrews also sang about hills in the Sound of Music. However, a more current (and local) Julie is Julie Feeney from Galway. Impossibly Beautiful is a great track from JF. Bill

Kate bush was signed to her record label on the recommendation of dave gilmour of pink floyd, so play 'wish you were here'

Wednesday's Live Drive link-Up

As always we had a Live Drive Link-Up for you this morning, and seeing as it would have been Jackie Kennedy Onasis's birthday today we though it only fit to play The Presidents Of The United States of America's track Peaches. Where did the link go? Well Bill made this amazing connection:

In America, the 'Peach State' is Georgia, which is home to Jimmy Carter, 39th President, as well as R.E.M. Carter was succeeded by Ronald Reagan, who's wife was Nancy. So was Frank Sinatra's daughter. She sang the mega-hit 'These Boots Are Made for Walking'. Bill

Best of the rest of the texts:

Hi sarah. Link up - peaches is one of bob geldofs children. Bob produced band aid (and live aid) with midge ure who was a member of thin lizzy (briefly!). So play anything by thin lizzy.]

Peaches are fruit and so are apples. Apple have a music store with loads of tracks so pick one Pam likes and send on a cap :) gavin

Peaches by the Presidents gets you to George Bush and from there to Simple Minds and then finally to The American. Tada

Live Drive Link Up

It's clear that you all clearly understand the rules to the Live Drive Link-Up, It's simple, find a clever connection between a song and another track using either the title or the artist and you could win yourself a 103.2 DCFM Baseball hat.

This morning we set you the task of linking Bobbie Gentry's Ode To Billy Joe to any other track. Disco Stu managed to link it to Star Star by The Frames. How did he do that? Just like this:

Ode to Billy Joe to Billy Joe from Greenday ... St Paddy's Day is a Greenday worldwide. New York holds the biggest St Paddy's Day parade . New York is known as the big apple.. Apple links to the Beatles as it was their label. The Beatles were huge stars. So play Star Star by The Frames ...

The best of the rest of the texts:

Ode covered by Sinead O'Connor who covered Nothing Compares 2u by Prince, who wrote Manic Monday for the Bangles, but its Tuesday so play Walk Like An Egyptian - Gavin

Bit macabre but Billy Jo jumped off a bridge as did richer manics, how about a design for life by the manics? Mark

This mornings Live Drive Link-Up was The First Cut Is The Deepest by cat Stevens, we had a huge amount of entries for this one, but Pam was quite taken by USA Boy's link to R.E.M's Man On The moon! how did he do it? Well....

1st cut was covered by sheryl crow. Sheryls other half used to be lance armstrong. Neil armstrong was 1st man on the moon. So I go for rem. Man in the moon. Usa boy

'1st Cut' describes the hurt of love lost, which can be DEEP. However, love found can also be DEEP, as in 'River Deep, Mountain High' by Tina Turner (maybe). I really want a hat. Bill

Cat Stevens became interested in Islam while visiting in Marrakesh. So play "Marrakesh Express" by Crosby Stills & Nash. anonymous

1st cut: pj harvey's First album had the song Bleed. Title of that album is shelagig, so play that!

Simplicity this time.... 4 Cat Stevens play the year of the cat by al stewart:-) TEJ

Cat stephens, my cat is called stephen, and got caught up in a fight wiv another cat yesterday and a few cuts, but the first is the deepest. So the same song.

Cat Stevens sung wild world which was in footloose with kevin bacon .... Oh hang on that's not the game. Steve

Getting but hurts, so Hurt, Johnny Cash version. Elmo

If you've been cut you need a cure, particularly if the cut was caused by love. So for feline Mr Stevens there can only be one song. The Cures "Love Cats". :-) Thanks, Keith.

Pinball Number Count

tuesday's Live Drive link Up

This morning we gave you Black hole Sun by Soundgarden from which to create a link and Keith went from Black Hole Sun to the sound of Silence by Simon And Garfunkel, how you might ask, well..

Soundgarden suggests noise and Black Hole Sun suggests the absence of light and colour so how about Sound of Silence, Simon & Garfunkel? Thanks, Keith.

A few other suggestions that came in:

Soundgarden's Chris Cornell sang a James Bond theme so did Tom Jones so you can play It's Not unusual. Gavin

Soundgarden to Chris Cornell to Audioslave to Rage Against the Machine to Tom Morello to The Nightwatchman, so play One Man Revolution by him for the Tallafornia Man

Ok, Black Hole Sun to the band Hole with Courtney Love who was married to Kurt Cobain, lead singer of Nirvana so please play Polly. Little Missy

Chris Cornell was in the movie Singles, with Kyra Sedgewick who is married to Kevin Bacon who was in Footloose, so play footloose. Gemma.

Black Hole Sun to Invisible Sun by The Police or even to 3rd Stone From The Sun by Hendrix.
